I am an expert in energy technologies and a popular educator. My primary mission is to educate all interested citizens and legislators regarding energy technologies. This education will lead to informed discussions and will result in better decisions. In addition, I have a secondary mission to help prepare students to be successful in energy technology careers.
I achieve both missions through my series
of books and presentations. Throughout this site you can learn more about my
books and the classes I offer. Please explore the site to find the resources
you need.
Why
I Created the Series of Books and Courses
Public debate is frequent and
passionate, but with too little understanding of the actual science. At best an
informed citizen knows only a few pieces. At worst (as it is for a great number
of citizens and legislators) electricity is magic, and myths are believed as
scientific truth. It does not have to be that way. Any citizen, regardless of
background, can know the technologies behind all aspects of electrical power.
The biggest problem with energy
discussions is false information. False information exists because most energy groups
and energy lobbyists have an agenda. These groups exist to promote or prohibit
a particular energy technology. What the people need is a resource they can
trust.
I created The
Science of Electricity series of books and classes to be absolutely
unbiased and accurate. I have no agenda - I lay out each technology as it is.
For each technology I examined efficiency, safety, and environmental effects. I
have also spent significant time researching the facts, talking with experts,
and cross checking information. I wanted to be certain that I wrote the
absolute truth for each technology.
The books and classes in The Science of Electricity series are very different. I am a technology teacher
who has a special gift for explaining complex subjects very clearly. In my
series of books and classes I explain all aspects of electrical power
technologies in such a way that anyone can understand, particularly those citizens
without a technical background.
Remember that there are no perfect
solutions, there are only choices. Any option can be beneficial, yet each
option has its own technical issues to work with. It is up to you and to your
community to make those educated decisions. I hope that my series of books and
courses will help guide you in your choices.
